Gianluca Vallero was born in Italy and has lived and worked in Berlin since the 1990s. After many years working as a journalist for Italian and German media, he began making his own films in the late 1990s and founded Finimondo Productions in 1999.

In 2003/2004, he worked as assistant director to Gianni Amelio on the feature film The Keys to the House (Le chiavi di casa). Since then, Vallero has written, directed and produced short films, documentaries and feature films that have been presented at numerous national and international festivals and received several awards.

His work moves between fiction and documentary filmmaking and is characterized by a personal, often cross-cultural perspective on people and the worlds they inhabit. Today, he develops his own film projects through Finimondo Productions and participates in international co-productions.
